Ceremony Music
Music should be considered for the distinct parts of the wedding ceremony, the prelude, the processional, interlude and the recessional.
The prelude is the period of time when the guests start arriving for the ceremony. Typically it starts about thirty to forty-five minutes before the brides arrives. The music selected for the prelude can help set the tone and mood for the rest of the ceremony.
The processional begins with the seating of the mother of the bride, and continues with the entrance of the wedding party, up until the moment the bride arrives and walks down the isle. Generally festive and traditional music selections are recommended for the processional.
Interlude music is used to create a joyous and solemn feeling throughout the wedding ceremony. Interlude music should reflect the mood of the particular portion of the ceremony. Be sure and check with your wedding officiant to assure that the music you select is acceptable. Officiants, particularly in a religious or spiritual ceremony, may have requirements about what music is acceptable for each part of the ceremony.
The recessional is at the completion of the ceremony when the bride and groom walk up the aisle together as a married couple. Celebratory, upbeat music is recommended to reflect the joy and excitement of the newlyweds!
Below is a sampling of some popular selections used in wedding ceremonies.

Reception Music
You will remember your reception for the rest of your life. You may already have "your song", or may still be looking for just the right song for your first dance. You will also want to choose appropriate and memorable selections for the father/daughter and mother/son dance. Once the dancing begins, you'll want to have some romantic tunes in between lively and popular dance numbers. Finally, you want to end the reception on a special note with your last dance.
Below are some suggestions for your first and last dance, as well as the couples dance with their parents. If you've already selected your special dance tunes, you could request that any one of the tunes listed be played throughout the night to enhance your reception's romantic mood.
